You have just described Britain. Governments completely ignoring the wishes of the people, a press shackled by political correctness and lib/lab/con creatures (so not free), and endemic corruption and theft by a political class (which are given other names like "outside directorships" and "expenses" by parliamentary vote). You really are naive aren't you.
Ukraine turning to the west will really give them a large dose of democracy, what democracy, the eurocrats rule may be many things but democracy it sure aint.
A heavily indebted Ukraine is more likely to get a good dose of Greek style austerity, with their freedom and sovereignty disappearing down the black hole of a giant euro gravy train.
I think what really irks Western politicians about Putin is that he cannot easily be bought and that he is an unapologetic nationalist who will put the interests of his country first. That is what every elected politician is supposed to do. But our politicians are "globalists" who will sell their granny - and their country - to whoever pays the right price or has the dirty on them. Very easily bought they are. Cheap at the price.
The bankers rule Britain. The politiicans are like court jesters.
The UK is a dictatorship and the government is actively anti Christian - Putin is a leader and he would do a better job as Prime Minister of Britain than the traitors running the UK now.
As an American I'm beginning to have the impression that some of your (british) politicians are as dumb and self-adoring as ours. This is going to become a more and more serious problem as global politics becomes more and more dangerous.
The world has three major problems. It is the US regime, Islam and organized crime. The Soviets had global ambitions for Communism. They are gone now (or The USSR morphed into the EUSSR). Russia only wants to be a country for all Russians and have no global desires. The only insatiable ones today are the US regime with its brutally corporative and militaristic thirst for permanent war and owning the world, Islam with its ambitions of subjugating all people in the world to the totalitarian Islamic ideology, and organized crime buying out and bullying democratic societies into mafia subsidiaries. All three are thus enemies of mankind.
